Maki Oh Fall 2017

Designer Amaka Osakwe is easily one of Africa’s most celebrated designers, her latest collection has definitely reaffirmed her position as one of the most interesting young designers in the international fashion scene. Her design tenor combines indigenous African techniques with contemporary construction. It is obvious she is focused on creating a story based on identity and culture through her pieces, and this season is an inspired narrative on the Nigerian working-class girl going out for a casual encounter at night.

Everyone loves a good story and this collection has a refreshing plot that will make any Nigerian woman reminisce. Every aspect of the clothes represents the life in Lagos. From the colours, textures, and patterns, to the generous helpings of both signature Maki Oh adire prints, slick leather and sparkly metallics. Her clothes’ represent her integrity, which is a beauty in it’s own form.
